Recently, a new cooperation of the companies Jakob Winter (GER) and Buffet Crampon (F), the University de Lorrain (F) and the HNE-Eberswalde started.
The project aims to substitute Grenadill which is commonly used for clarinets. Grenadill is a tropical wood species and protected by CITES regulation.
The team at HNEE thermally and chemically modifies locally grown timber.
Traditionally, clarinet cases are build from Abachi – a tropical wood species which is not certified by FSC. Together the partners search for options to combine locally grown wood species and a bio-adhisive, that fullfill the required properties of the clarinet transportcase.
The project is funded by the BMWi (GER), FKZ ZF4092212DE8 and bpi (F).
